2020 Honda City To Get Diesel CVT and Hybrid Engine

The Japanese automaker Honda, is in the process to update their prime sedan, the Honda City sedan globally. The best selling product for Honda in India, City has been a poster boy for the brand for long now, we suppose for more than two decades. The all new 2020 Honda city is about to feature the following details , pertaining to the gearbox, engine and launch details.

Each five year , the Honda city is about to get to another generation with some huge amount of changes on board. The car-maker is testing the new City in Thailand and will make its global debut there only, with a possible launch in India during the Auto Expo 2020. This will be the fifth generation of the popular mid-size sedan and it is likely to get a long-awaited hybrid engine.

Another addition to the new 2020 Honda City would be a CVT gearbox in the diesel engine, akin to the CVT in petrol engine. Currently, the Honda City petrol is only offered with a 7-Step CVT gearbox, and is also accompanied by paddle shifters, but we doubt whether the upcoming diesel CVT would have paddle shifters. Both the 1.5-litre iVTEC and iDTEC engines will be BS-VI compliant once launched in India. The current gen City produces 118bhp/175Nm and 99bhp/200Nm in petrol and diesel engines respectively.

Considering the new design, the Honda City has been spotted multiple times wearing a production-ready body and will have a design inspired from the Accord sedan, which means the new City will be bigger in size, freeing up a lot of space inside the cabin. And will be also having

  • More squarish rear profile with a new bumper
  • New Taillights and Tailgate.
  • Sloping roof-line.
  • Integrated roof spoiler.
  • New prominent Front grille.
  • Chrome treatments.
  • New Angular headlamps with LED DRL’s.

Inside the cabin, is expected to have a new touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a roomy sun-roof, much more Legroom and shoulder room for passengers, and a connected car facility with application controls is also expected.
