The Japanese manufacturers Suzuki and Toyota started to share the platforms and cars, and the Toyota Glanza is the first to be out on roads from the Toyota Family, which is actually a re-badged Baleno. Toyota was working on the re-badged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which is likely to be christened as the Toyota Glanza. Maruti Suzuki has shipped almost 364 units of Maruti Suzuki Baleno to Toyota to Badge and rename it as Toyota Glanza. However, Toyota is yet to confirm the name of its premium hatchback officially. The agreements was commenced on early 2018 , as the two companies will share platforms and will share some amount of cars as their cross product. The first one to come up was the Maruti Suzuki Baleno , Toyota will be selling a certain number of Baleno’s from the Suzuki with re-badged Model. Also Toyota can make some sort of modifications on the model to make it a class product from the Company.
Toyota Glanza will be available in two trim levels – G and V – that will be available with both, manual as well as automatic transmissions. The car will be available in five colour options – grey, red, blue, silver, and white. Toyota’s rebadged Maruti Suzuki Baleno will receive a revised front grille with a ‘Toyota’ logo. The overall design, sheet metal quality and interiors will be identical to the Baleno. That said, the source reveals that the Toyota Glanza will have six ‘Toyota’ logos on the exteriors and one on the steering wheel.
To make it a unique product from Toyota or to differentiate from Maruti. Toyota will offer various additional services as part of the deal to differentiate the Glanza from the Maruti Baleno. It will include extended warranties, exclusive Toyota accessories, a Smartphone App, Toyota Express Service (TOYOTA EM60), body & paint warranty, Toyota QService, Toyota Financial Services and Roadside Assistance among others. To attract the Maruti Haters to buy the top selling premium hatchback, Toyota Glanza will be adoptable by the Toyota lovers to make the premium hatchback segment open.
Under the Hood or Powering Toyota Glanza will be the same new BS-Vi compliant 1.2-litre K-Series K12B petrol engine that makes 83bhp and 113Nm. It will be available with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT. There will be no diesel motor on offer as Maruti Suzuki is making a cap on their diesel model because of the non-BS-IV-compatible diesel engines from FIAT. Yesterday, Maruti Suzuki introduced a new 1.2-litre Dualjet engine with SHVS in the Baleno. However, we aren’t sure if Toyota will get this engine on the Glanza in future.
